Basilica of Agia Triada

One of Cyprus’s many historical places well worth a visit is the Basilica of Agia Triada. The archaeological site is located in the village of Sipahi (Agia Triada), on the Karpaz peninsula, one of the most unspoilt regions of Cyprus. If you are on your way to visit Golden Beach in Karpaz, this ancient place is a nice stop along the way.

The basilica was built in the 5th-century and today there is only the foundations and some columns left to see. However, the patterned mosaic floors has managed to withstand the ravages of time, and even been able to keep much of its original colour. In two places there are Greek inscriptions revealing that the building wad partly financed by a local deacon.
