The Peace and Freedom Museum
The Peace and Freedom Museum in Alsancak, Kyrenia, is a must for those looking to learn more about the landing of Turkish troops in 1974. Situated in the very spot where the landing took place the museum and the monument offer a unique look at history and receive visitors from many different countries each year.
The museum consists of an outdoor area and an indoor area. Outside you can take a close look at vehicles and arms that were left behind by the Greek and inside the museum you get to see photographs from the event as well as belongings of those who participated. Nearby the museum there is a small military graveyard. This place invites you to learn a lot about the history of Cyprus in a very important historical spot. There is a café just outside the museum to refresh yourself with a drink or some snacks after the museum-visit.
